One day left…

The last few days were quite busy for the participants and the committee. Even our supervisors struggle to do everything they want to do before we leave.

Today we had the preliminary presentations and the goodbye drink. The presentations were interesting and friends and family came in large numbers to hear them. With just a little over 24 hours the moment of departure comes near…

Business Case MTénV and PHBM

Yesterday, we visited PHBM and MTénV for an intriguing business case. At first we went to see the project ‘de Entree’ at Amsterdam central station. After that, we discussed a case concerning a conflict between a contractor and local government. We had a great time and we really want to thank both companies for their hospitality!

Business Case APPM

appm-fotoLast week the American Ambitions Group visited Dutch company APPM for an interesting business case. APPM involved us in one of their projects about Electric Transportation at the Dutch airport Schiphol. 96 of the taxi’s driving around Schiphol are now fully electric Tesla’s and APPM played a key part in realizing this.

We would like to thank APPM for their hospitality and their enthusiastic presentation.

Wine Tasting

29069120970_aa3606252b_kLast week we had our final teambuilding activity. Armand Dohmen (husband of our supervisor Marjolein Dohmen-Janssen) organized a perfect wine tasting experience. During the two hour class of Armand we tasted six different wines from all over the world. As regular beer drinkers, wine tasting was more difficult for us than a regular mathematics class. Full concentration was needed in questions as: What are you smelling? What is that taste? How is the aftertaste? Armand gave a wonderful class and thought us some awesome skills that we can bring into practice in California.

Cultural excursions

honey_island_tourDuring the study tour we will visit spectacular excursions in New York, New Orleans and San Francisco. Our schedule is quite full, but luckily we have a free afternoon on Wednesday the 12th of October.  During this spare time, we will hit the water and make an awesome kayak tour through the swamps of Honey Island in the New Orleans area. Covered with cypress groves, abandoned houseboats and exotic wildlife it’s going to be a wonderful experience.

First Lectures

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor lecture

Yesterday, our supervisor Rick Hogeboom and Veronica Junjan of the public administration program gave the first official lectures of the study tour education course. Rick held a small introduction to the United States with his own PESTLE analysis, while Veronica explained the several ways to analyze a country on a macro- and meso level. We especially want to thank Veronica Junjan for her time and enthusiasm. The study tour education program has officially begun!
